Degree Sought : Ph.D.
Research Focus:

School Name : Richard Murphy K-8
Teaching Partner: Kathleen Wright
Edwin's Project GLACIER Site

Alfonzo is a third year graduate student in the Aaron Beeler Laboratory. His work mainly focuses on the use of visible light to promote bond formation. In particular, those that access molecular entities that may have biological utility. He is also interested in redox and first row transition metals processes alike.

This year Alfonzo will be working with Kathy Wright in the Murphy Middle School in Roxbury. Their main goal will be to bring together common scientific and engineering practices into the classroom so that students will develop good recording and problem solving skills. Examples of such activities include methods to solve issues such as oil spills, CO2 output and sea level rise among many others. They hope to inspire students to be part of the next generation of scientist and engineers.
