Karoline Weber is a third year GK-12 graduate student pursuing her PhD degree in Statistics at Boston University. She has been collaborating with professor Mark Kon and his research team pursuing the development of an improved machine learning algorithm for lung cancer tissue-type classification and diagnosis, via supervised hierarchical clustering and decision tree construction.

She is working with Amy Hintzman from the Pierce School in Brookline, in both 7th and 8th grade classrooms. In hopes of improving the students' ability to understand and analyze data in science, especially climate change, they plan to incorporate new and exciting lessons into their curriculum concerning graphical analysis, data inference, and future trend prediction.
