School Name : Oak Hill MS, Newton
Teaching Partner: Marianne Marks
Swati's Project GLACIER Site

Swati is a sixth year PhD candidate in bioengineering under Professor Douglas M. Densmore. She is currently researching the rules that underlie the design and function of natural systems. In particular, she is working on building and testing simple synthetic genetic regulatory networks in bacteria and running them through pattern-mining algorithms.

She is paired with Marianne Marks in a 7th grade science (biology) class at Oak Hill Middle School in Newton, MA. They are working together in developing science and engineering curricula with regards to carbon dioxide and its role in climate change. Together they are working on teaching students the scientific method, project-based science learning and scientific writing.
