Amanda Vo is a 4th year PhD candidate working in Professor Deborah Perlstein�s lab at Boston University. Her research involves working on the Cytosolic Iron-sulfur cluster Assembly (CIA) pathway in yeast. Specifically, her project focuses on understanding the molecular recognition of diverse protein iron-sulfur cluster targets by proteins in the pathway.
Amanda is paired with Christopher Ranft teaching 7th and 8th grade science at Atlantic Middle School in Quincy, MA. Their focus is to develop the students� abilities to interpret data, construct scientific models, and draw reasonable scientific conclusions. Their underlying theme for the year will be global change, specifically looking at seal level rising on the Quincy coastline and ecosystem changes. Amanda will bring her knowledge of Biochemistry to enhance their education on global change as well as their regular curriculum. She also will bring fun relevant Chemistry demos and activities to excite the students in the classroom.
