Sanjay Yengul is a 2nd year Ph.D. student working Prof. Paul Barbone in the Mechanical Engineering department at Boston University. Sanjay's research interests broadly relate to the application of physics principles in engineering and biomedical applications. He is currently working on ultrasound and MR-based elastography techniques and the related inverse problems. Applications include diagnosis and treatment monitoring of diseases like liver fibrosis, breast cancer, atherosclerosis among others. |
Sanjay is partnered with Ryan Keser who teaches 7th and 8th grade science at Lawrence Middle School in Brookline. Sanjay is hoping to bring his expertise in acoustics to get the students interested in studying both mechanical and electromagnetic waves which together form a big part of our physical experience of the world. A second theme we will emphasize is the need for sustainability in mankind's harnessing and consumption of energy from the various available sources, such as solar, wind, fossil fuels, etc. Through these science lessons, they hope to develop an educated awareness of the impact of day-to-day human activity on our environment. |
